Philosophy of Ministry
Philosophy of Ministry: A spiritual revolution in the body of Christ built on a new understanding of sanctification.

That revolution requires a new paradigm for understanding and living the New Way of the Spirit, and a model for SoulCare that makes the paradigm practical. We need to learn to speak to each other in ways that reach deeply into the soul and stir up the appetite for God already present until it becomes the ruling passion of our lives. When we “speak” life into another and receive life “spoken” into us, we are speaking SoulTalk, the language of SoulCare.

SoulTalk is best learned in spiritual community. The four characteristics of a community where souls can be well cared for are:

1. SAFETY

  • Failure is never a cause for rejection.
  • Our new purity creates the passion to accept each other by celebrating God’s grace.
  • Relaxed Curiosity becomes the first expression of other-centered relating.

2. VISION

  • Struggle is never the final reality.
  • Our new identity creates the passion to affirm our value as people who can actually bring God glory and believe in each other.
  • Excited Envisioning becomes the second expression of other-centered relating.

3. WISDOM

  • Selfishness is never assumed to be the deepest urge in a follower of Jesus.
  • Our new disposition creates the passion to see the goodness in each other and to ally with the Spirit in the battle against badness.
  • Discerning Sensitivity becomes the third expression of other-centered relating.

4. POWER

  • Weakness need never govern our lives.
  • Our new power creates the passion to hear the Spirit speaking to our hearts and to give whatever He prompts us to give each other.
  • Enlivening Input becomes the fourth expression of other-centered relating.
